Vedic Wedding in Radadesh

Last week-end I was with my family in Radadesh in the Belgium Ardennes for the Vedic wedding of my niece. It was a long ride, but worthwhile. The day before henna was put on the brides hands and feet as is customary. The decorations were especially for brides. The next morning the event began with a reception where we met with family and friends, while we waited for the bride to arrive. She was dressed in an astonishing red sari, embroidered with golden thread. Red is the color that brides would wear. She was beautifully adorned with jewels. We nearly didn’t recognize her. Then the 3 hours ceremony began, with offerings and pledges that are made. And the chanting to the lord Krishna. Lastly everybody joined in to rejoice this unforgettable moment by walking around the bridal centre piece and chanting. Thereafter everybody congratulated bride & groom. In the hall we were surprised by an Indian dancer. Very charming. The wedding concluded with a vegan dinner. It was a beautiful wedding and we enjoyed ourselves.

Here are some pictures. The place is very relaxing and a getaway from the busy city life.
