Interview with Bengali Indian Writer Amitav Ghosh
Tim Ashbrook over @ NPR’s program On Point interviewed another great favorite novelist of mine, the ever delightful Amitav Ghosh. He writes so marvelously. Amitav Ghosh, Booker Prize-winning author, his new book, River of Smoke, is the second book of his Ibis trilogy. You can find an excerpt here.
Amotav Ghosh takes us into the heart of the 19th century opium trade, when the West fed addiction in China. He takes us almost two centuries back, when British traders and American and more – Union Jacks and Old Glory flying high – poured opium into imperial China.
I’ve already read the first part of the trilogy, Sea of Poppies. Can’t wait to read River of Smoke
